I have an sch-i760 running Windows Mobile 6.1. If you have a Rant then you're probably not into smartphones and I can't be much help to you. If it's not a smartphone, I don't mess with it.
However, if you want a direct LG/Samsung comparison I'd look at the reviews for the LG Rumor compared to your Samsung Rant. They're basically the same phone.
